How to Launch and Manage a BA Community of Practice

After organizations recognize the value of business analysis, they begin to realize the need for an organization-wide business analysis practice.  Have you had opportunities to meet with other business analysts in your organization in order to share your practices and experiences? How evolved is the business analysis practice at your organization?

This session will follow the evolution from an organization’s recognition of the value of business analysis to establishing a thriving enterprise-wide Business Analysis Community of Practice.  The presenter will describe the value of a Community of Practice to your organization as well as your career development.   The presenter will also share her experience with launching BA Communities of Practice at both profit and non-profit organizations as well as provide a practical how-to guide for launching and managing a BA COP.

Margaret is CBAP and PMI-ACP certified with 25+ years of IT experience in business analysis, project management, and technical training in the areas of retail, transportation, insurance, logistics, healthcare and higher education. Margaret has managed teams of business analysts, launched communities of practice, and conducted training on business analysis. Margaret has presented at various leadership workshops, conferences, and community of practice meetings on such topics such as business analysis, agile software development, and leadership. Margaret currently manages a team of business analysts at Emory University and is an instructor at Emory Continuing Education.
