When entering a new market, such as the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) countries, business analysts play a key role in understanding the legal & regulatory framework, local market practices and liaising with key market participants in adapting the organization's product offering and technology platform to most commercially support the business plan. This presentation outlines the due diligence process for new market entry, key challenges and decisions to be made, and how the effective use of business analysts can enable new businesses to be deployed rapidly without sacrificing strategic business goals.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER(s):
Norbert Gehrke is responsible for the Cross-Divisional Projects & Architecture (XDIV) team globally, which consists of ~95 business analysts/project managers located in New Jersey/New York, London, Bangalore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in Tokyo in late 2000, Norbert worked with Big Five consulting firms in the financial services industry across Europe and Asia. His current role is his second stint in New York. He has been involved with a number of new markets, industry/regulatory and strategic architecture initiatives, including the establishment of a broker/dealer presence in Beijing, Mumbai and Sao Paulo.
Norbert holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Professional Risk Manager (PRM) designations
