ABOUT THIS SESSION:

    Can complex businesses achieve truly helpful customer-centric service? For Regelhulp.nl (Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare en Sports), the answer is “Of course.” This case study shows how the Dutch government uses business rules to make complex legislation accessible to the public, by:

    • Using and maintaining business rules, without any technical expertise;
    • Providing a user friendly web portal for over 300 care related services backed by semantic technology;
    • Decreasing government spending (ROI 31% 5 year period) by cutting down on red tape.

     Participants will leave with:

    • How business rules govern decision making tasks;
    • Insights into value add and challenges associated with implementing this approach.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER(s):

    Arjen Brienen

    Arjen Brienen (1968) specializes in complex government ICT-projects in different roles like: software architect and project manager. The main goal of Arjens work is to improve government service while using existing information and knowledge. Arjen has had a leading role in designing and building: core system for the Dutch parliament (1999), Core components for UWV (2003-2007), e-government building bocks (2007-2010) and is now working for the Dutch Ministry of Welfare, Health and Sports at Regelhulp as the technical project leader


    Mills Davis

    Mills Davis is founder and managing director of Project10X and CXO for Be Informed USA. He is a professional services executive, industry analyst, consultant, and entrepreneur.
